On July 18, the contact wire hot-sliding test for the airport section of Xiamen Metro Line 3, constructed by?China Railway Wuhan Electrification Bureau Group under CREC, was successfully completed, laying a solid foundation for the project to enter the operational testing phase.
The airport section is an extension of the initial phase of Line 3 and is 8.7 kilometers long. During the hot-sliding test, the team conducted trials at low, medium, and high speeds to verify the stability of the 10.51-kilometer overhead contact system. Results showed stable train operation without arcing or sparking, and all pantograph-catenary dynamic parameters met design standards, indicating readiness for electric train testing.
Line 3 spans 45 kilometers and serves as a key transit corridor connecting Xiamen Island, its eastern outlying areas, and Xiang’an Airport. Once fully operational, it will enable direct and rapid transit between Xiang’an Airport and the city center. The airport section will form a multi-level interchange hub with Metro Line 4, Intercity Line R1, and Xiang’an Airport, greatly enhancing travel convenience.
