On July 24, the highway portion of the G3 Tongling Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge, constructed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group under CREC, passed completion inspection, marking the project’s readiness for traffic operation.
The G3 Tongling Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge is the world’s first cable-stayed-suspension hybrid system bridge with dual decks. It has a main span of 988 meters and a total length of 11.88 kilometers, carrying both highway and railway traffic. The upper deck is a six-lane expressway with a design speed of 100 km/h, while the lower deck contains four railway tracks—two for the Hechi Intercity Railway (design speed 250 km/h), and two for the Tongling South to Jiangbei Port Railway (to extend to Zongyang and connect Anqing at 120 km/h). Once completed, the bridge will enhance the national and provincial highway networks, improve cross-river transport capacity, and support regional integration and interconnectivity in the Yangtze River Delta.
